Glasharmonika
Die Glas-Harmonika, auch bekannt als Glasarmonica, Schüssel Orgel, Hydrokristallophon oder einfach die Armonica (abgeleitet von αρμονία ("Harmonia"), das griechische Wort für Harmonie), ist eine Art von Musikinstrument, das eine Reihe von Glasschalen verwendet Oder Becher, die in der Größe abgestuft sind, um Musiktöne durch Reibung zu erzeugen (Instrumente dieser Art werden als Reibungs-Idiophone bezeichnet). Weil sein Klangteil aus Glas besteht, ist die Glasharmonika ein Kristallophon. Das Phänomen des Reibens eines nassen Fingers um den Rand eines Weinkelches, um Töne zu produzieren, wird zurück in die Renaissancezeit dokumentiert; Galilei betrachtete das Phänomen (in seinen zwei neuen Wissenschaften), wie auch Athanasius Kircher. Der irische Musiker Richard Pockrich wird typischerweise als erster ein Instrument aus Glasschiffen gespielt, indem er seine Finger um die Felgen rieb. Anfang der 1740er Jahre spielte er in London auf einem Satz von aufrechten Bechern, die mit unterschiedlichem Wasser gefüllt waren. Seine Karriere wurde durch ein Feuer in seinem Zimmer geschnitten, das ihn umgebracht und seinen Apparat zerstört hatte.
