In der Buchveröffentlichung im Vereinigten Königreich und in anderen Teilen der Welt, die der britischen Nomenklatur folgen, wird der Begriff Redakteur verwendet, aber in der Zeitungs- und Zeitschriftenveröffentlichung ist der Begriff Unterredakteur, der gewöhnlich zu Sub verkürzt wird. Der ältere Sub-Editor auf einem Titel wird häufig der Chef-Sub-Editor genannt. Wie die "sub" Präfix vorschlägt, haben britische Kopie-Redakteure in der Regel weniger Autorität als regelmäßige Redakteure.
