Astronomische Einheit
Eine astronomische Einheit ist eine Einheit der Länge, etwa der Abstand von der Erde zur Sonne. Es ist jetzt genauer definiert als 149597870700 Meter. Die astronomische Einheit wird vor allem als bequemer Maßstab für die Messung von Entfernungen innerhalb des Sonnensystems verwendet. Allerdings ist es auch eine grundlegende Komponente in der Definition einer anderen kritischen Einheit der astronomischen Länge, die parsec.
