Zum Beispiel beinhalten Stammzellbehandlungen die Ernte von Stammzellen aus dem eigenen Knochenmark und die Wiedereinführung dieser Zellen zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt, manchmal nach der Veränderung dieser Stammzellen. Die Autoinokulation kann sich auch auf den Prozeß beziehen, durch den sich Viren innerhalb eines Organismus reproduzieren, indem sie sich in die Zellen eines Organismus implantieren, den Stoffwechsel, die DNA-Reparatur und die Replikationsprozesse dieser Zellen verändern und diese Prozesse verwenden, um sich im gesamten Organismus zu reproduzieren und zu übertragen. Zum Beispiel können Warzen und Molluscum contagiosum durch diese Methode verbreitet werden, wenn Warze Gewebe Zellen mechanisch zu einem anderen Teil des Körpers transportiert werden.
