Autoionisierung
Die Autoionisierung ist ein Prozeß, bei dem Atome oder Moleküle spontan eine der Schalelektronen emittieren und so von einem Zustand mit Ladung Z in einen Zustand mit Ladung Z + 1 gehen, beispielsweise von einem elektrisch neutralen Zustand in einen einfach ionisierten Zustand. Atome können autoionisieren, wenn entweder zwei oder mehr Valenzelektronen angeregt werden oder ein oder mehrere Innenschalen-Elektronen fehlen. Im letzteren Fall heißt es der Auger-Effekt. Moleküle können darüber hinaus Vibrations-Autoionisierung erfahren. Autoionisieren von Zuständen sind meist kurzlebig und können daher als Resonanzen eher als normale gebundene Zustände beschrieben werden.
