Bari hören ist die Hauptstadt der Provinz Bari und der Apulien, an der Adria, in Italien. Es ist das zweitwichtigste wirtschaftliche Zentrum des Festlandes Süditalien nach Neapel und ist bekannt als Hafen- und Universitätsstadt sowie die Stadt des Heiligen Nikolaus. Die Stadt selbst hat eine Bevölkerung von etwa 320.475, ab 2011, über 116 Quadratkilometer, während das schnell wachsende städtische Gebiet 653.028 Einwohner über 203 Quadratkilometer zählt. Die Metropolregion zählt 1 Million Einwohner. Bari besteht aus vier verschiedenen städtischen Abschnitten. Im Norden befindet sich die eng gebaute Altstadt auf der Halbinsel zwischen zwei modernen Häfen mit der Basilika des Heiligen Nikolaus, der Kathedrale San Sabino und der Schwäbischen Burg, die für Friedrich II. Gebaut wurde und heute auch ein großes Nachtlebenviertel ist. Im Süden liegt das Murat-Viertel, das moderne Herz der Stadt, das auf einem rechteckigen Gitterplan mit einer Promenade am Meer und dem großen Einkaufsviertel liegt.
