Ein Block ist gedruckt Buch, das enthält oder basiert auf Inhalt aus einem Blog. Der erste gedruckte Blook war User Interface Design für Programmierer, von Joel Spolsky, veröffentlicht von Apress am 26. Juni 2001, basierend auf seinem Blog Joel on Software. Ein Frühblock wurde von Tony Pierce im Jahr 2002 geschrieben, als er ausgewählte Beiträge aus seinem einjährigen Blog komponierte und die Sammlung in ein Buch namens "Blook" verwandelte. Der Name kam zustande, als Pierce einen Wettbewerb bestand und seine Leser aufforderte, einen Titel für das Buch vorzuschlagen. Jeff Jarvis von BuzzMachine gewann den Wettbewerb und erfand später den Begriff. Pierce fuhr fort, zwei andere Blöcke zu veröffentlichen, wie zu Blog und steif. Print-on-Demand-Verlag Lulu eröffnete den Lulu-Blooker-Preis für Blöcke, der erstmals im Jahr 2006 verliehen wurde. Das gedruckte Blook-Phänomen beschränkt sich nicht auf Selbstverlag. Mehrere populäre Blogger haben Buchverhandlungen mit großen Verlagen unterzeichnet, um Bücher zu schreiben, die auf ihren Blogs basieren. Allerdings beginnen einige Verlage zu erkennen, dass Blog-Popularität nicht in den Verkauf zu übersetzen. Blog, um Conversions über traditionelle Verlage zu buchen, passiert noch, aber der Fokus hat sich von der Blog-Popularität zur Content-Qualität verschoben.
