Brainbow
Brainbow ist der Prozess, durch den einzelne Neuronen im Gehirn von benachbarten Neuronen unter Verwendung von fluoreszierenden Proteinen unterschieden werden können. Durch zufälliges Ausdrücken verschiedener Verhältnisse von roten, grünen und blauen Derivaten von grün fluoreszierendem Protein in einzelnen Neuronen ist es möglich, jedes Neuron mit einer unverwechselbaren Farbe zu markieren. Dieser Prozess war ein wichtiger Beitrag zum Bereich der Connectomics oder der Untersuchung von neuronalen Verbindungen im Gehirn. Das Studium der neuronalen Bahnen ist auch als Hodologie von früheren Neuroanatomen bekannt. Die Technik wurde ursprünglich im Frühjahr 2007 von einem Team geführt von Jeff W. Lichtman und Joshua R. Sanes, beide Professoren von Molecular \u0026 amp; Zellbiologie in der Abteilung für Neurobiologie an der Harvard Medical School. Ihre Demonstration der Technik bei Mäusen erschien zuerst in der November-Ausgabe 2007 der Zeitschrift Nature. Die ursprüngliche Technik wurde vor kurzem für die Verwendung mit anderen Modellorganismen einschließlich Drosophila melanogaster und Caenorhabditis elegans angepasst.
