Casuistry / kæʒuːɨstri /, oder Fall-basierte Argumentation, ist eine Methode in angewandter Ethik und Jurisprudenz, die oft als eine Kritik der prinzip- oder regelbasierten Argumentation gekennzeichnet ist. Das Wort "casuistry" stammt aus dem lateinischen casus. Casuistry ist Argumentation verwendet, um moralische Probleme durch die Extraktion oder Erweiterung der theoretischen Regeln aus bestimmten Fällen und Anwendung dieser Regeln auf neue Instanzen zu lösen. Der Begriff wird auch gemeinhin als pejorative verwendet, um die Verwendung von cleverem, aber unklugem Argument zu kritisieren, vor allem in Bezug auf moralische Fragen.
