Lagerstroemia / ˌleɪɡərstriːmiə /, bekannt als Krepp Myrte oder Krepp Myrte, ist eine Gattung von etwa 50 Arten von Laub-und immergrüne Bäume und Sträucher heimisch in den indischen Subkontinent, Südostasien, Nord-Australien und Teile von Ozeanien, kultiviert in wärmeren Klimazonen um die Welt. Es ist ein Mitglied der Lythraceae, die auch als die Loosestrife Familie bekannt ist. Die Gattung ist nach dem schwedischen Kaufmann Magnus von Lagerström benannt, der Carolus Linnaeus mit Pflanzen versammelte, die er sammelte. Diese blühenden Bäume sind wunderschön gefärbt und werden oft privat und kommerziell gepflanzt.
