Daphnis
In der griechischen Mythologie war Daphnis ein sizilianischer Hirte, der als Erfinder der pastoralen Poesie bezeichnet wurde. Nach der Tradition war er der Sohn des Hermes und eine Nymphe, obwohl Daphnis selbst sterblich war. Daphnis wird auch beschrieben und als eromenos dargestellt. Seine Mutter soll ihn unter einem Lorbeerbaum ausgesetzt haben, wo er von Hirten gefunden und nach dem Baum benannt wurde, unter dem er gefunden wurde. Er wurde auch manchmal gesagt, Hermes Liebling oder Geliebter zu sein, anstatt sein Sohn. Ein Naiad war in ihn verliebt und versprach, ihm treu zu sein. Allerdings wurde er mit Hilfe des Weines von der Tochter eines Königs verführt, und in Rache blendete diese Nymphe ihn entweder oder verwandelte ihn zu Stein. Pan verliebte sich auch in ihn und lehrte ihn, die Pfannen zu spielen. Daphnis war auch der Name eines Mitglieds der Gruppe der prophetischen Schwestern, bekannt als die Thriae. Longus 'Legende von Daphnis und Chloe beschreibt zwei Kinder, die zusammen aufwachsen und allmählich gegenseitige Liebe entwickeln und schließlich nach vielen Abenteuern heiraten.
