Deduktive Argumentation, auch deduktive Logik oder logische Deduktion oder, informell, "top-down" Logik, ist der Prozess der Argumentation aus einer oder mehreren allgemeinen Aussagen, um eine logisch gewisse Schlussfolgerung zu erreichen. Deduktive Begründung verbindet Räumlichkeiten mit Schlussfolgerungen. Wenn alle Räumlichkeiten wahr sind, sind die Begriffe klar, und die Regeln der deduktiven Logik sind gefolgt, dann ist die Schlussfolgerung unbedingt wahr. Deduktive Argumentation kontrastiert mit induktivem Denken in folgender Weise: In ableitender Argumentation wird eine Schlussfolgerung rückwirkend erreicht, indem man allgemeine Regeln anwendet, die die Gesamtheit eines geschlossenen Diskursbereichs halten und den betrachteten Bereich verkleinern, bis nur die Schlussfolgerung übrig bleibt. In der induktiven Argumentation wird die Schlussfolgerung durch Verallgemeinerung oder Extrapolation von Anfangsinformationen erreicht. Infolgedessen kann Induktion auch in einer offenen Domäne verwendet werden, eine dort, wo es epistemische Unsicherheit gibt. Beachten Sie jedoch, dass die hier erwähnte induktive Argumentation nicht die gleiche ist wie die Induktion, die in mathematischen Beweisen verwendet wird - die mathematische Induktion ist eigentlich eine Form des deduktiven Denkens.

Deductive reasoning, also deductive logic or logical deduction or, informally, "top-down" logic, is the process of reasoning from one or more general statements to reach a logically certain conclusion. Deductive reasoning links premises with conclusions. If all premises are true, the terms are clear, and the rules of deductive logic are followed, then the conclusion reached is necessarily true. Deductive reasoning contrasts with inductive reasoning in the following way: In deductive reasoning, a conclusion is reached reductively by applying general rules that hold over the entirety of a closed domain of discourse, narrowing the range under consideration until only the conclusion is left. In inductive reasoning, the conclusion is reached by generalizing or extrapolating from initial information. As a result, induction can be used even in an open domain, one where there is epistemic uncertainty. Note, however, that the inductive reasoning mentioned here is not the same as induction used in mathematical proofs – mathematical induction is actually a form of deductive reasoning.
