Dubstep
Dubstep / dʌbstɛp / ist ein Genre der elektronischen Tanzmusik, die in South London, England entstand. Es entstand in den späten 1990er Jahren als eine Entwicklung innerhalb einer Abstammung von verwandten Stilen wie 2-stufige Garage, gebrochener Schlag, Trommel und Bass, Dschungel, Dub und Reggae. In Großbritannien können die Ursprünge des Genres auf das Wachstum der jamaikanischen Sound-System-Party-Szene in den frühen 1980er Jahren zurückverfolgt werden. Die Musik enthält in der Regel synkopierte Trommel- und Schlagmuster mit Basslinien, die prominenten Subbass-Frequenzen enthalten. Die frühesten Dubstep-Releases stammen aus dem Jahr 1998 und wurden in der Regel als B-Seiten von 2-stufigen Garagen-Single-Releases vorgestellt.
