Elektrodialyse
Die Elektrodialyse wird verwendet, um Salzionen aus einer Lösung durch Ionenaustauschmembranen zu einer anderen Lösung unter dem Einfluss einer angelegten elektrischen Potentialdifferenz zu transportieren. Dies geschieht in einer Konfiguration, die als Elektrodialysezelle bezeichnet wird. Die Zelle besteht aus einem Zufuhrfach und einem Konzentratraum, das durch eine Anionenaustauschermembran gebildet ist, und eine Kationenaustauschermembran, die zwischen zwei Elektroden angeordnet ist. In fast allen praktischen Elektrodialyseverfahren werden mehrere Elektrodialysezellen in eine als Elektrodialyse-Stack bezeichnete Konfiguration mit alternierenden Anionen- und Kationenaustauschermembranen, die die Mehrfach-Elektrodialysezellen bilden, angeordnet. Elektrodialyseverfahren sind im Vergleich zu Destillationstechniken und anderen membranbasierten Prozessen unterschiedlich, da die gelösten Spezies von dem Futterstrom anstatt umgekehrt entfernt werden. Da die Menge der gelösten Spezies im Futterstrom weit geringer ist als die der Flüssigkeit, bietet die Elektrodialyse den praktischen Vorteil einer viel höheren Futterrückgewinnung in vielen Anwendungen.
