Elektronenmikrosonde
Eine Elektronenmikrosonde, die auch als Elektronensonden-Mikroanalysator oder Elektronenmikro-Sonden-Analysator bekannt ist, ist ein analytisches Werkzeug, das zur zerstörungsfreien Bestimmung der chemischen Zusammensetzung von kleinen Volumina an festen Materialien verwendet wird. Es arbeitet ähnlich wie ein Rasterelektronenmikroskop: Die Probe wird mit einem Elektronenstrahl bombardiert, wobei Röntgenstrahlen bei Wellenlängen emittiert werden, die für die zu analysierenden Elemente charakteristisch sind. Dadurch können die in kleinen Probenvolumina vorhandenen Fülle von Elementen bestimmt werden. Die Konzentrationen von Elementen von Bor zu Plutonium können in Niveaus von nur 100 Teilen pro Million gemessen werden. Die jüngsten Verbesserungen an EMPAs können die Elementarkonzentrationen von etwa 10 ppm genau messen.
