Elektroskop
Ein Elektroskop ist ein frühes wissenschaftliches Instrument, das verwendet wird, um das Vorhandensein und die Größe der elektrischen Ladung auf einem Körper zu erkennen. Es war das erste elektrische Messgerät. Das erste Elektroskop, eine schwenkbare Nadel, genannt das Versorium, wurde von dem britischen Arzt William Gilbert um 1600 erfunden. Das Pith-Ball-Elektroskop und das Gold-Blatt-Elektroskop sind zwei klassische Arten von Elektroskop, die noch in der Physik-Ausbildung verwendet werden, um die Prinzipien zu demonstrieren Elektrostatik. Eine Art von Elektroskop wird auch im Quarzfaser-Strahlungsdosimeter verwendet. Elektroskopen wurden von dem österreichischen Wissenschaftler Victor Hess bei der Entdeckung kosmischer Strahlen eingesetzt. Elektroskopien erkennen die elektrische Ladung durch die Bewegung eines Testobjekts aufgrund der Coulomb-Elektrostatische Kraft. Das elektrische Potential oder die Spannung eines Objektes entspricht seiner Ladung, dividiert durch seine Kapazität, so daß Elektroskopien als Rohvoltmeter angesehen werden können. Die Akkumulation von genügend Ladung, um mit einem Elektroskop zu erkennen, benötigt Hunderte oder Tausende von Volt, so dass Elektroskopen nur mit Hochspannungsquellen wie statischer Elektrizität und elektrostatischen Maschinen verwendet werden.
