Epidemiologie
Epidemiologie ist die Wissenschaft, die die Muster, Ursachen und Auswirkungen von Gesundheit und Krankheit Bedingungen in definierten Populationen untersucht. Schwerpunkte der epidemiologischen Studie sind Krankheits-Ätiologie, Ausbruchuntersuchung, Krankheitsüberwachung und Screening, Biomonitoring und Vergleiche von Behandlungseffekten wie in klinischen Studien. Epidemiologen verlassen sich auf andere wissenschaftliche Disziplinen wie Biologie, um Krankheitsprozesse besser zu verstehen, Statistiken, um die Daten effizient zu nutzen und entsprechende Schlussfolgerungen zu ziehen, Sozialwissenschaften, um die nahen und distalen Ursachen besser zu verstehen und das Engineering für die Expositionsabschätzung zu verstehen.
