Flatback Meeresschildkröte
Die Flatback-Meeresschildkröte ist eine Meeresschildkröte, die dem kontinentalen Regal von Australien endemisch ist. Die Flatback-Schildkröte gehört zur Meeresschildkröte-Superfamilie Cheloniidae und ist die einzige Art, die in der Gattung Natator gefunden wird. Sein gemeinsamer Name kommt von seinem abgeflachten Panzer im Vergleich zu anderen Arten von Meeresschildkröten. Erwachsene Flatback Schildkröten haben eine low-domed Carapace, mit umgedrehten Kanten, die etwa 90-95cm lang ist. Der Panzer ist oliv bis grau gefärbt und der Plastron ist cremefarben. Flatback-Schlüpfer haben graue Carapaces mit den Scutes, die deutlich in schwarz umrissen sind. Der Plastron und die Kanten des Panzers sind weiß.
