Geniculles Ganglion
Das genetische Ganglion ist eine L-förmige Sammlung von Fasern und sensorischen Neuronen des Gesichtsnervs im Gesichts-Kanal des Kopfes. Es empfängt Fasern aus den motorischen, sensorischen und parasympathischen Bestandteilen des N. facialis und sendet Fasern, die die Tränendrüsen, die submandibulären Drüsen, die sublingualen Drüsen, die Zunge, den Gaumen, den Pharynx, den äußeren Gehörgang, den Stapedius, den hinteren Bauch des digastrischen Muskels innervieren , Stylohyoidmuskel und Muskeln des Gesichtsausdrucks. Das genetische Ganglion enthält spezielle sensorische neuronale Zellkörper für Geschmack, aus Fasern, die aus der Zunge durch die Chorda-Trommel kommen, und aus Fasern, die aus dem Dach des Gaumens durch den größeren N. petrosalis kommen. Sensorische und parasympathische Eingaben werden über das Nervus intermedius in das geniculäre Ganglion gebracht. Motorfasern werden über den eigentlichen Gesichtsnerv getragen. Der grössere N. petrosalis, der sowohl sensorische Fasern als auch präganglionale parasympathische Fasern trägt, taucht aus dem vorderen Aspekt des Ganglions auf. Das genetische Ganglion ist eine von mehreren Ganglien des Kopfes und des Halses.
