Körnig
Körnung ist die Praxis, Holzkorn auf einer nicht-hölzernen Oberfläche nachzuahmen, um die ästhetische Anziehungskraft dieser Oberfläche zu erhöhen. Das Graben war im 19. Jahrhundert üblich, da die Menschen darauf hinwarfen, harte, teure Wälder zu imitieren, indem sie eine oberflächliche Lackschicht auf weiche, preiswerte Wälder anlegten. Das Körnchen kann entweder mit rudimentären Werkzeugen oder hochspezialisierten Körnungswerkzeugen erfolgen. Eine spezialisierte dicke Bürste, die für die Körnung verwendet wird, wird oft als Mottler bezeichnet. Es wird in Schichten durchgeführt, wobei die erste Schicht eine Basis ist, und dann eine zweite Schicht, die später verwendet wird, heute üblicherweise mittels eines Schwamms. Während des 19. Jahrhunderts wurden jedoch Bürsten häufiger verwendet. Körnchen können auch auf Ziegelsteine und Messing angewendet werden, wie es heute häufiger ist. Körnung kann auch die Produktion irgendeiner künstlichen Textur auf jeder Oberfläche bedeuten. Zum Beispiel beim Bedrucken, indem man die glatten Bleche, die in modernen Druckverfahren verwendet werden, grob macht. Ein Steinarbeitsäquivalent der Körnung ist Marmorierung. Ein Buch mit dem Titel Das Museum der Antike, in dem eine Beschreibung der ägyptischen Trades vor dreitausend Jahren gegeben wird, die folgenden: Boxen, Stühle, Tische, etc.
