Gyrocar
Ein Gyrocar ist ein zweirädriges Auto. Der Unterschied zwischen einem Fahrrad oder einem Motorrad und einem Gyrocar ist, dass in einem Fahrrad eine dynamische Balance durch den Fahrer und in einigen Fällen durch die Geometrie und Massenverteilung des Fahrrades selbst und die gyroskopischen Effekte von den Rädern bereitgestellt wird. Die Lenkung eines Motorrades erfolgt durch Präzession des Vorderrades; Gyroskopische Effekte spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der Stabilität aller zweirädrigen Fahrzeuge. In einem Gyrocar wurde die Balance von einem oder mehreren Gyroskopen bereitgestellt und in einem Beispiel mit zwei Pendeln durch eine Zahnstange verbunden. Das Konzept wurde ursprünglich in der Fiktion im Jahre 1911 beschrieben "Zwei Jungen im Gyrocar: Die Geschichte eines New Yorker Pariser Motor Race" von Kenneth Brown ,. Doch der erste Prototyp Gyrocar, der Shilovski Gyrocar, wurde 1912 von dem russischen Graf Pjotr Shilowski, einem Anwalt und Mitglied der russischen Königsfamilie, beauftragt. Es wurde zu seinem Entwurf durch das Wolseley Werkzeug und die Automobil-Firma 1914 hergestellt und demonstrierte in London im selben Jahr. Der Gyrocar wurde von einem modifizierten Wolseley C5-Motor von 16 - 20 PS mit einer Bohrung von 90 mm und einem Hub von 121 mm angetrieben.
