Ein Hapaxanth ist eine Pflanzenart, deren Individuen nur einmal in ihrem Leben blühen und später sterben. Andere Begriffe mit der gleichen Bedeutung sind semelparös und monokarpisch. Der Begriff wurde zuerst von Alexander Braun verwendet. Dieser Begriff wird für Pflanzen verwendet, die nur eine blühende Veranstaltung haben und dann sterben. Es wird am häufigsten in Verbindung mit der Beschreibung einiger der Taxa von Arecaceae und einige Arten von Bambus verwendet, aber selten anders verwendet. Viele Jahresblumen blühen über einen Zeitraum von Zeit und können Blumen und Samen auf der gleichen Pflanze zur gleichen Zeit haben, also sind sie nicht hapaxanthic, weil Blüte nicht zum Tod führt. Ein verwandter Begriff ist pleonanthisch, wieder verwendet mit Arecaceae und einige Bambus für Stiele, die mehr als einmal blühen. Sein Antonym wird oft als Pollakanth gegeben, obwohl Pleonanth auch gesehen wird.
