Hybridom-Technologie ist eine Technologie zur Bildung von Hybrid-Zelllinien durch Fusion einer spezifischen Antikörper-produzierenden B-Zelle mit einer Myelomzelle, die für ihre Fähigkeit ausgewählt wird, in der Gewebekultur zu wachsen und für die Abwesenheit der Antikörperketten-Synthese. Die vom Hybridom produzierten Antikörper sind alle eine Einzelspezifität und sind daher monoklonale Antikörper. Die Produktion von monoklonalen Antikörpern wurde von César Milstein und Georges J. F. Köhler 1975 erfunden. Sie nahmen den Nobelpreis von 1984 für Medizin und Physiologie mit Niels Kaj Jerne, der andere Beiträge zur Immunologie leistete. Der Begriff Hybridom wurde von Leonard Herzenberg während seines Sabbats im César Milsteins Laboratorium 1976/1977 geprägt.

Hybridoma technology is a technology of forming hybrid cell lines by fusing a specific antibody-producing B cell with a myeloma cell that is selected for its ability to grow in tissue culture and for an absence of antibody chain synthesis. The antibodies produced by the hybridoma are all of a single specificity and are therefore monoclonal antibodies. The production of monoclonal antibodies was invented by César Milstein and Georges J. F. Köhler in 1975. They shared the Nobel Prize of 1984 for Medicine and Physiology with Niels Kaj Jerne, who made other contributions to immunology. The term hybridoma was coined by Leonard Herzenberg during his sabbatical in César Milstein's laboratory in 1976/1977.
