Diese wurden unter dem Unerwünschten Warengesetz von 1971 geregelt, aber die Verbraucherschutzbestimmungen 2000 sind in jeder Hinsicht strenger, was das Gesetz von 1971 überflüssig macht, obwohl es keine ausdrückliche Aufhebung gibt. Allerdings gelten die genannten Fernabsatzregelungen nur für die Verbraucher, so dass ein Unternehmen, das die Ware auf unerwünschter Basis empfängt, das Gesetz von 1971 betrachten muss. Auch mit Wirkung vom 14. Juni 2014 werden die Distanzregelungen durch die Verbrauchervertragsverordnungen 2013 ersetzt, die eine neue s 29A enthalten, die dem Verbraucherschutz aus dem unlauteren Handelsreglement 2008 hinzugefügt wurde, um klar zu machen, dass der Verbraucher unerwünschte Waren behalten kann.

In the law of the United Kingdom unsolicited goods are goods delivered to an individual with a view to the individual acquiring them, but where the individual has no reasonable cause to believe that they were delivered for legitimate business and had not previously agreed to acquire them. These were regulated under the Unsolicited Goods Act 1971 but the Consumer Protection Regulations 2000 are stricter in every respect rendering the 1971 Act redundant although there is no express repeal. However the said distance selling regulations only apply to consumers so a business receiving the goods on an unsolicited basis would need to look at the 1971 Act. Also with effect from 14 June 2014 the distance regulations are replaced by The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 which include a new s 29A added to the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 making it clear the consumer may keep unsolicited goods.
