Ionisation
Ionisierung ist der Prozeß, durch den ein Atom oder ein Molekül eine negative oder positive Ladung durch Gewinnung oder Verlust von Elektronen erhält. Die Ionisierung resultiert aus der Wechselwirkung eines Atoms oder eines Moleküls mit einem subatomaren Teilchen oder elektromagnetischen Wellen am kurzen Wellenlängenende des elektromagnetischen Spektrums, die genügend kinetische Energie haben, um eine Ionisation zu bewirken. Die Ionisierung kann in Abwesenheit eines äußeren Einflusses durch den internen Umwandlungsprozess erfolgen, durch den ein angeregter Kern seine Energie auf eine der inneren Schalenelektronen überträgt und ihn mit hoher kinetischer Energie ausstößt. Der Ionisierungsprozess ist für die Grundlagenwissenschaft von besonderem Interesse. Es ist auch in vielen Bereichen von praktischem Interesse angetroffen, von der Massenspektroskopie bis zur Strahlentherapie zur Beseitigung von Krebszellen. Offensichtlich können alle Aspekte des Ionisierungsprozesses nicht in einem einzigen enzyklopädischen Artikel behandelt werden. Hier wird die Ionisation beschrieben, indem man den einfachen Fall eines Atoms im starken Laserfeld aufruft. Der Fall ist der analytischen Behandlung zugänglich und stellt die Hauptmerkmale des Prozesses dar.
