John Maynard Keynes, 1. Baron Keynes, CB, FBA war ein britischer Ökonom, dessen Ideen die Theorie und Praxis der modernen Makroökonomie grundlegend beeinflusst haben und die Wirtschaftspolitik der Regierungen informiert haben. Keynes argumentierte stattdessen, dass die Gesamtnachfrage das Gesamtniveau der Wirtschaftstätigkeit bestimmt habe und dass eine unzureichende Gesamtnachfrage zu längeren Zeiten mit hoher Arbeitslosigkeit führen könnte. Nach der keynesianischen Ökonomie war die staatliche Intervention notwendig, um die "Boom- und Bust" -Zyklen der Wirtschaftstätigkeit zu moderieren.
