Krypton
Krypton ist ein chemisches Element mit Symbol Kr und Atomnummer 36. Es ist ein Mitglied der Gruppe 18 Elemente. Ein farbloses, geruchloses, geschmackloses Edelgas, Krypton tritt in Spuren in der Atmosphäre auf, wird durch fraktionierte Destillation von verflüssigter Luft isoliert und wird häufig mit anderen Edelgasen in Leuchtstofflampen verwendet. Krypton ist für die meisten praktischen Zwecke inert. Krypton, wie die anderen edlen Gase, kann in der Beleuchtung und Fotografie verwendet werden. Krypton-Licht hat eine große Anzahl von Spektrallinien, und Kryptons hohe Lichtausbeute in Plasmen erlaubt es, eine wichtige Rolle bei vielen Hochleistungs-Gaslasern zu spielen, die eine der vielen Spektrallinien auswählen, um sie zu verstärken. Es gibt auch einen speziellen Kryptonfluoridlaser.
