Kunming
Kunming ist die Hauptstadt und größte Stadt in der Provinz Yunnan, Südwestchina. Bekannt als Yunnan-Fu bis in die 1920er Jahre, heute ist es eine Präfektur-Ebene Stadt und die politischen, wirtschaftlichen, kommunikativen und kulturellen Zentrum der Provinz sowie der Sitz der Provinzregierung. In der Mitte des Yunnan-Guizhou-Plateaus gelegen, befindet sich Kunming auf einer Höhe von 1.900 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel und auf einer Breite gerade nördlich des Wendekreises des Krebses. Es erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von 21.473 Quadratkilometern und seine städtischen Gebiete umfasst 2.622 Quadratkilometer. Kunming hat eine Bevölkerung von 6.432.212, davon 3.583.429 im bebauten Gebiet, bestehend aus 4 städtischen und 1 Vorstadtbezirken, und liegt am nördlichen Rand des großen Lake Dian, umgeben von Tempeln und See-und-Kalkstein-Hügellandschaften.
