Lee Welle
In der Meteorologie sind Lee-Wellen atmosphärische stehende Wellen. Die häufigste Form ist Bergwellen, die atmosphärische innere Schwerkraftwellen sind. Diese wurden 1933 von zwei deutschen Segelflugpiloten, Hans Deutschmann und Wolf Hirth, über dem Riesengebirge entdeckt. Sie sind periodische Änderungen des atmosphärischen Drucks, der Temperatur und der orthometrischen Höhe in einem Luftstrom, der durch vertikale Verschiebung verursacht wird, zum Beispiel orographischer Aufzug, wenn der Wind über einen Berg oder Gebirge weht. Sie können auch durch den Oberflächenwind verursacht werden, der über eine Senkung oder ein Plateau weht, oder sogar durch obere Winde, die über eine thermische Aufstiegs- oder Wolkenstraße abgelenkt werden. Die vertikale Bewegung zwingt periodische Änderungen in der Geschwindigkeit und Richtung der Luft in diesem Luftstrom. Sie kommen immer in Gruppen auf der Leeseite des Geländes vor, die sie auslöst. In der Regel wird ein turbulenter Wirbel mit seiner Drehachse parallel zum Gebirgszug um den ersten Trog herum erzeugt; Das heißt Rotor. Die stärksten Lee-Wellen entstehen, wenn die Streichquote eine stabile Schicht oberhalb der Obstruktion zeigt, mit einer instabilen Schicht oberhalb und unterhalb.
