Logogramm
Ein Logogramm oder Logograph ist ein Graphem, das ein Wort oder ein Morphem darstellt. Dies steht im Gegensatz zu Tonträgern, die Phoneme oder Kombinationen von Phonemen darstellen, und Determinanten, die semantische Kategorien markieren. Logogramme sind auch als "Ideogramme" bekannt. Streng genommen repräsentieren Ideogramme jedoch Ideen direkt als Worte und Morpheme, und keiner der hier beschriebenen Logosysteme ist wirklich ideographisch. Ein Merkmal von Logogrammen besteht darin, dass ein einzelnes Logogramm von einer Vielzahl von Sprachen verwendet werden kann, um Wörter mit ähnlichen Bedeutungen darzustellen. Während disparate Sprachen auch die gleichen oder ähnliche Alphabete, Abjads, Abugidas, Silben und dergleichen verwenden können, ist der Grad, in dem sie identische Darstellungen für Wörter mit unterschiedlichen Aussprachen teilen können, viel begrenzter. Moderne Beispiele sind zB die Logogramme für "Damen"
