Lund
Lund (schwedische Aussprache: (hören)) ist eine Stadt in der Provinz Scania, Südschweden. Die Stadt hat 82.800 Einwohner im Jahr 2010, aus einer städtischen Gesamtmenge von 110.824. Es ist der Sitz von Lund Municipality, Skåne County. Die Stadt ist vermutlich um 990 gegründet worden, als Scania zu Dänemark gehörte. Es wurde bald ein wichtiges christliches Zentrum der Ostseeregion, zu einer Zeit, als das Gebiet noch ein Grenzgebiet für die christliche Mission war, und in Skandinavien und vor allem Dänemark durch das Mittelalter. Von 1103 war der Sitz eines Erzbischofs. Im Zentrum der Stadt steht die hoch aufragende Lunder Kathedrale, die 1090-1145 erbaut wurde. Lund University, gegründet 1666, ist heute eine der größten Bildungseinrichtungen Skandinaviens für Bildung und Forschung.
