Lungwurm
Lungenwürmer sind parasitäre Nematoden-Würmer der Ordnung Strongylida, die die Lungen der Wirbeltiere befallen. Der Name wird für eine Vielzahl von verschiedenen Gruppen von Nematoden verwendet, von denen einige auch andere gemeinsame Namen haben; Was sie gemeinsam haben, ist, dass sie in die Lungen oder Atemwege ihrer Gastgeber migrieren und Bronchitis oder Pneumonie verursachen. Der Lungwurm wird allmählich die Atemwege oder das Lungengewebe beschädigen, indem es eine entzündliche Reaktion im Gewebe anregt. Letztendlich überleben und reproduzieren die Parasiten im Atemgewebe. Die Kategorie ist also eher eine beschreibende als eine genau taxonomische. Die häufigsten Lungenwürmer gehören zu einer von zwei Gruppen, der Überfamilie Trichostrongyloidea oder der Überfamilie Metastrongyloidea, aber nicht alle Arten in diesen Überfamilien sind Lungenwürmer. Die Lungenwürmer in der Überfamilie Trichostrongyloidea umfassen mehrere Arten in der Gattung Dictyocaulus, die Huftiere befallen, darunter die meisten gängigen Hausarten. Verschiedene Arten finden sich bei Rindern und Hirschen, Eseln und Pferden und Schafen und Ziegen. Diese Tiere haben direkte Lebenszyklen.
