Macula der Netzhaut
Die Makula oder Makula lutea ist ein ovalförmiger, stark pigmentierter gelber Fleck nahe dem Zentrum der Netzhaut des menschlichen Auges. Es hat einen Durchmesser von etwa 6 mm und ist oft histologisch definiert als mit zwei oder mehr Schichten von Ganglienzellen. In der Nähe des Zentrums befindet sich die Fovea, eine kleine Grube, die die größte Konzentration von Kegelzellen im Auge enthält und für die zentrale, hochauflösende Vision verantwortlich ist. Die Makula enthält auch die Parafovea und Perifovea.
