Mesitylen oder 1,3,5-Trimethylbenzol ist ein Derivat von Benzol mit drei Methylsubstituenten, die symmetrisch auf den Ring platziert sind. Isomere Trimethylbenzole schließen 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzol und 1,2,3-Trimethylbenzol ein. Alle drei Verbindungen haben die Formel C6H33, die üblicherweise als C6H3Me3 abgekürzt wird. Mesitylen ist eine farblose Flüssigkeit mit süßem aromatischen Geruch. Es ist eine Komponente von Kohle-Teer, die ihre traditionelle Quelle ist. Es ist ein Vorläufer für diverse Feinchemikalien.
