Maurisches Idol
Das maurische Idol, Zanclus cornutus, ist eine kleine marine Fischart, die einzige erhaltene Vertreterin der Familie Zanclidae in Ordnung Perciformes. Ein gemeiner Bewohner von tropischen bis subtropischen Riffen und Lagunen, das maurische Idol zeichnet sich durch seine breite Verbreitung im gesamten Indo-Pazifik aus. Eine Anzahl von Falterfischen ähnelt dem maurischen Idol. Es ist eng verwandt mit, wenn nicht ein direkter Nachkomme, der ausgestorbenen Eozanclus brevirhostris, aus dem Mittleren Eozän von Monte Bolca. Das maurische Idol erhielt seinen Namen von den Mauren von Afrika, die angeblich glaubten, der Fisch sei ein Bringer des Glücks. Maurische Idole sind auch beliebte Aquarienfische, aber trotz ihrer Beliebtheit sind sie berüchtigt für kurze Aquarienlebensdauer und Empfindlichkeit.
