Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini war ein italienischer Politiker, Journalist und Führer der Nationalen Faschistischen Partei und regierte das Land als Ministerpräsident von 1922 bis zu seiner Verteidigung im Jahre 1943. Nach dem März auf Rom im Oktober 1922 wurde er der jüngste Ministerpräsident in der italienischen Geschichte bis zur Ernennung von Matteo Renzi im Februar 2014. Nach dem Zerstören aller politischen Opposition durch seine Geheimpolizei und die Ausbreitung von Arbeitsstreiks, Mussolini und seine faschistischen Anhänger konsolidierten ihre Macht durch Eine Reihe von Gesetzen, die die Nation in eine Einpartei-Diktatur verwandelten. Innerhalb von fünf Jahren hatte er diktatorische Autorität sowohl durch rechtliche als auch außerordentliche Mittel geschaffen, um einen totalitären Staat zu schaffen.
