Numerische Steuerung ist die Automatisierung von Werkzeugmaschinen, die von genau programmierten Befehlen betrieben werden, die auf einem Speichermedium codiert sind, im Gegensatz zu manuell über Handräder oder Hebel gesteuert oder mechanisch über Nocken allein automatisiert.
