In der Chemie ist das Osmol eine Nicht-SI-Maßeinheit, die die Anzahl der Molen des gelösten Stoffes definiert, die zum osmotischen Druck einer Lösung beitragen. Der Begriff stammt aus dem Phänomen der Osmose und wird typischerweise für osmotisch aktive Lösungen verwendet. Beispielsweise entspricht eine Lösung von 1 mol / l NaCl einer Osmolarität von 2 osmol / l. Das NaCl-Salzpartikel dissoziiert vollständig in Wasser, um zwei getrennte Partikel zu werden: ein Na + -Ion und ein Clion. Daher wird jedes Mol NaCl zu zwei Osmolen in Lösung, ein Mol Na + und ein Mol Cl-. In ähnlicher Weise ergibt eine Lösung von 1 mol / l CaCl \u0026 sub2; eine Lösung von 3 osmol / l. Der Unterschied zwischen Osmolarität und Molarität lässt sich am Beispiel leicht erklären. Eine physiologische Kochsalzlösung kann durch 9 g Natriumchlorid, gelöst in 1 Liter Wasser, oder 50 Gramm Glukose in 1 Liter hergestellt werden. Salz hat eine Molmasse von 58,44 g / mol, Glucose von 180,15 g / mol. 50 Gramm Glukose führen zu 278 Millimol Glukose. 9 g Natriumchlorid entsprechen 154 Millimol Natriumchlorid. Die Osmolarität der Lösung von Natriumchlorid beträgt jedoch 308 Milliomol / Liter.
