Pelargonium
Pelargonium / ˌpɛlɑrɡoʊniəm / ist eine Gattung von Blütenpflanzen, die etwa 200 Arten von Stauden, Sukkulenten und Sträuchern, allgemein bekannt als Pelargonien umfasst. Verwirrend ist Geranie der richtige botanische Name einer separaten Gattung verwandter Pflanzen, die oft als Kraniche oder robuste Geranien bezeichnet werden. Beide Gattungen gehören zur Familie Geraniaceae. Linnaeus enthielt ursprünglich alle Arten in einer Gattung, Geranie, aber sie wurden später in zwei Gattungen von Charles L'Héritier im Jahre 1789 getrennt.
