Pidgin
Eine pidgin / pɪdʒɨn / oder pidgin Sprache ist eine vereinfachte Version einer Sprache, die als Kommunikationsmittel zwischen zwei oder mehreren Gruppen entwickelt wird, die keine Sprache gemeinsam haben. Es wird am häufigsten in Situationen wie Handel eingesetzt, oder wo beide Gruppen Sprachen sprechen, die sich von der Sprache des Landes unterscheiden, in dem sie wohnen. Grundsätzlich ist ein Pidgin ein vereinfachtes Mittel der sprachlichen Kommunikation, da es improvisiert oder durch Konvention zwischen Individuen oder Gruppen von Menschen konstruiert wird. Ein Pidgin ist nicht die Muttersprache einer Sprachgemeinschaft, sondern wird stattdessen als Zweitsprache gelernt. Ein Pidgin kann aus Worten, Klängen oder Körpersprachen aus mehreren anderen Sprachen und Kulturen gebaut werden. Pidgins erlauben es Menschen oder einer Gruppe von Menschen, miteinander zu kommunizieren, ohne irgendwelche Ähnlichkeiten in der Sprache zu haben. Pidgins haben in der Regel niedrige Prestige in Bezug auf andere Sprachen. Nicht alle vereinfachten oder "gebrochenen" Formen einer Sprache sind pidgins. Jeder pidgin hat seine eigenen Gebrauchsnormen, die für die Kenntnis der Pidgin gelernt werden müssen.
