Plasmodesma
Plasmodenmata sind mikroskopische Kanäle, die die Zellwände von Pflanzenzellen und einige Algenzellen durchqueren, die den Transport und die Kommunikation zwischen ihnen ermöglichen. Plasmodesmata entwickelten sich unabhängig in mehreren Abstammungen, und Arten, die diese Strukturen haben, gehören Mitglieder der Charophyceae, Charales, Coleochaetales und Phaeophyceae, sowie alle Embryophyten, besser bekannt als Landpflanzen. Im Gegensatz zu tierischen Zellen ist jede Pflanzenzelle von einer Polysaccharidzellwand umgeben. Die benachbarten Pflanzenzellen werden daher durch ein Paar Zellwände und die dazwischenliegende mittlere Lamelle getrennt, die eine extrazelluläre Domäne bildet, die als Apoplast bekannt ist. Obwohl Zellwände für kleine lösliche Proteine und andere gelöste Stoffe durchlässig sind, ermöglichen Plasmodenmata einen direkten, regulierten, symplastischen interzellulären Transport von Substanzen zwischen Zellen. Es gibt zwei Formen von Plasmodenmata: primäre Plasmodenmata, die während der Zellteilung gebildet werden, und sekundäre Plasmodenmata, die sich zwischen reifen Zellen bilden können. Ähnliche Strukturen, sogenannte Lückenübergänge und Membran-Nanoröhrchen, verbinden tierische Zellen und stromuliert zwischen Plastiden in Pflanzenzellen.
