Polytene Chromosom
Polytene-Chromosomen sind übergroße Chromosomen, die sich aus Standard-Chromosomen entwickelt haben und häufig in den Speicheldrüsen von Drosophila melanogaster gefunden werden. Spezielle Zellen unterliegen wiederholten Runden der DNA-Replikation ohne Zellteilung, um das Zellvolumen zu erhöhen, bilden ein riesiges Polytene Chromosom. Polytene-Chromosomen bilden sich, wenn mehrere Replikationsrunden viele Schwesterchromatiden produzieren, die zusammen synzilliert bleiben.
