Proton
Das Proton ist ein subatomares Teilchen mit dem Symbol p oder p + und einer positiven elektrischen Ladung von 1 Elementarladung. Eine oder mehrere Protonen sind im Kern jedes Atoms vorhanden. Protonen und Neutronen werden zusammen als "Nukleonen" bezeichnet. Die Anzahl der Protonen im Kern eines Atoms wird als Atomzahl bezeichnet. Da jedes Element eine eindeutige Anzahl von Protonen hat, hat jedes Element eine eigene, einzigartige Atomzahl. Der Name Proton wurde dem Wasserstoffkern von Ernest Rutherford im Jahre 1920 gegeben, weil er in den vergangenen Jahren entdeckt hatte, dass der Wasserstoffkern aus Kernen des Kerns von Stickstoff extrahiert werden konnte und somit ein Kandidat für ein fundamentaler Partikel- und Baustein war Von Stickstoff und allen anderen schwereren Atomkernen. Im modernen Standardmodell der Teilchenphysik ist das Proton ein Hadron, und wie das Neutron, das andere Nukleon, besteht aus drei Quarks. Bevor dieses Modell zu einem Konsens in der Physik-Gemeinschaft wurde, wurde das Proton als ein fundamentales Teilchen betrachtet. In der modernen Ansicht besteht ein Proton aus drei Valenzquarks: zwei Quarks und ein Quark.
