Die Definition von Rangverschiebung im Wörterbuch ist ein Phänomen, bei dem eine Einheit auf einem Rang in der Grammatik die Funktion einer Einheit auf einem niedrigeren Rang hat, wie zum Beispiel in der Phrase das Haus an der Ecke, wo die Wörter auf der Ecke verschieben runter vom Rang einer Gruppe zum Rang eines Wortes. Andere Definition von Rangverschiebung ist Verschiebung oder Verschiebung von einem sprachlichen Rang zu einem anderen.
