Reeler
Ein Reeler ist eine Maus-Mutante, so genannt wegen seiner charakteristischen "reeling" Gang. Dies wird durch tiefgehende Hypoplasien des Maus-Zerebellums verursacht, in denen das normale zerebelläre Folien fehlt. Die Mutation ist autosomal und rezessiv. Kortikale Neuronen werden normal erzeugt, sind aber ungewöhnlich platziert, was zu einer Desorganisation von kortikalen laminaren Schichten im ZNS führt. Der Grund dafür ist der Mangel an Reelin, ein extrazelluläres Matrix-Glykoprotein, das während der Kortikogenese hauptsächlich durch die Cajal-Retzius-Zellen sezerniert wird. Im reeler neocortex werden kortikale Plattenneuronen praktisch umgekehrt ausgerichtet. In der ventrikulären Zone der Kortex haben sich weniger Neuronen als radiale Gliaprozesse erwiesen. In dem Dentat-Gyrus des Hippocampus wird kein charakteristisches radiales Gliagerüst gebildet und es wird keine kompakte Granulatzellschicht hergestellt. Daher präsentiert die reeler-Maus ein gutes Modell, um die Mechanismen der Etablierung des präzisen neuronalen Netzwerks während der Entwicklung zu untersuchen.
