Ribose
Ribose ist eine organische Verbindung mit der Formel C5H10O5; Insbesondere ein Pentose-Monosaccharid mit linearer Form H-4-H, das alle Hydroxylgruppen auf der gleichen Seite in der Fischer-Projektion aufweist. Der Begriff kann sich auf zwei Enantiomere beziehen. Der Begriff bezeichnet gewöhnlich D-Ribose, die in der Natur weit verbreitet ist und hier diskutiert wird. Sein synthetisches Spiegelbild, L-Ribose, ist in der Natur nicht zu finden. D-Ribose wurde erstmals 1891 von Emil Fischer berichtet. Es ist ein C'-2-Kohlenstoff-Epimer des Zuckers D-Arabinose und Ribose selbst wird als eine Umwandlung des Namens der Arabinose bezeichnet. Ribose bildet einen Teil des Rückgrats der RNA. Es bezieht sich auf Desoxyribose, die in der DNA gefunden wird. Phosphorylierte Derivate von Ribose wie ATP und NADH spielen zentrale Rollen im Stoffwechsel. CAMP und cGMP, gebildet aus ATP und GTP, dienen als sekundäre Botenstoffe in einigen Signalwegen.
