Diese Technologien befassen sich mit automatisierten Maschinen, die den Menschen in gefährliche Umgebungen oder Herstellungsprozesse einbringen können, oder ähneln Menschen in Aussehen, Verhalten und / oder Kognition. Viele der heutigen Roboter sind von der Natur inspiriert auf dem Gebiet der Bio-inspirierten Robotik inspiriert. Diese Roboter haben auch einen neueren Zweig der Robotik geschaffen: Soft Robotics.
