Rock and Roll ist ein Genre der populären Musik, die in den Vereinigten Staaten in den späten 1940er und frühen 1950er Jahren entstanden und entwickelt wurde, vor allem aus einer Kombination von afrikanisch-amerikanischen Genres wie Blues, Sprungblues, Jazz und Gospelmusik zusammen mit Western Schaukel und Country-Musik.
