Sanidin
Sanidin ist die Hochtemperaturform von Kaliumfeldspat mit einer allgemeinen Formel K. Sanidin tritt typischerweise in felsischen vulkanischen Gesteinen wie Obsidian, Rhyolith und Trachyt auf. Sanidin kristallisiert im monoklinen Kristallsystem. Orthoklase ist ein monokliner Polymorph stabil bei niedrigeren Temperaturen. Bei noch niedrigeren Temperaturen ist Microcline, ein triklines Polymorph von Kaliumfeldspat, stabil. Wegen der hohen Temperatur und des schnellen Abschreckens kann Sanidin mehr Natrium in seiner Struktur enthalten als die beiden Polymorphen, die bei niedrigeren Temperaturen äquilibriert wurden. Sanidin und hoher Albit bilden eine feste Lösungsreihe mit Zwischenkompositionen, die als Anokokase bezeichnet werden. Die Exsolution einer Albitphase erfolgt; Kryptoperthit kann am besten in Elektronenmikrosondenbildern beobachtet werden.
