Scup
Der Schuppen, Stenotomus chrysops, ist ein Fisch, der vor allem im Atlantik von Massachusetts nach South Carolina auftritt. Zusammen mit vielen anderen Fischen der Familie Sparidae, ist es auch allgemein bekannt als porgy. Scup wachsen so groß wie 18 in und wiegen 3 bis 4 Pfund, aber sie durchschnittlich 0,5-1.0 Pfund. In der Mittleren Atlantischen Bight, Scup Spawn entlang der inneren Festlandsockel. Ihre Larven enden in Küstengewässern, entlang der Küste und in Mündungsgebieten. Im Alter von zwei bis drei Jahren reifen sie. Scup Winter auf dem mittleren und äußeren Festlandsockel. Wenn die Temperatur im Frühjahr wärmt, wandern sie an Land. Sie werden von kommerziellen und Freizeitfischern gefischt. Sie sind ein feiner Fisch zu essen wegen ihrer leichten Geschmack und werden manchmal auch Panfish. Beliebte Methoden des Kochens sind aber nicht beschränkt auf Braten, Braten und Backen.
